There is a continuing trend towards vehicle Crime in and around Lincolnshire. These offences are in both theft of, and from, motor vehicles and are occurring throughout the 24 hour period in varying locations.
The smallest item such as a pair of sunglasses may attract the attention of the opportunist thief!
Items which have been stolen include laptop computers and mobile phones.
Method of entry has been doors forced and windows smashed. So not only do you have to contend with replacing the stolen item(s) but also the cost and in many instances the inconvenience of repair to the vehicle.
WE CAN ALL CARRYOUT SIMPLE MEASURES SUCH AS:
1) SECURING OUR VEHICLES AT ALL TIMES (EVEN WHEN AT PETROL STATIONS).
2) REMOVE ALL ITEMS OF VALUE FROM DISPLAY WITHIN OUR VEHICLES. PLACE ITEMS OUT OF SIGHT, SUCH AS IN A LOCKED BOOT OR GLOVE BOX.
3) GARAGE VEHICLES WHEREVER POSSIBLE. WHEN PARKING AT NIGHT LEAVE THE VEHICLE IN A LIT AREA.
Taking these simple steps will greatly reduce the chance of becoming a victim of vehicle crime. By us all working together we can ensure that the criminals don’t get an easy ride.
